Planting out late chrysanthemums
The lates should now be ready for potting into their final 20cm (8in) pots in J.I. No. 3. This will be about the end of May early June. The same routine as before should be followed and the final level of soil in the pot should this time be about 6cm (2½in) below the rim and the soil should be rammed a bit harder. The plants can be given a good watering straight after potting and they should then not need any more for several days. Keep an eye open for any pots from which the water does not drain away properly and check them. They should then be stood in a block for a day or so for protection before being transferred to their summer standing-out quarters.
